[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The word “organic” is a real catch for marketers. It is truly so because most of the Americans believe that products labeled “additive-free”, “natural” or “organic” are better and safer compared to the products without such labels.

Are organic cigarettes better for you? Even though opting for such products might be beneficial for your health when it comes to your groceries and skin care products, it is not the case when it comes to tobacco products.

Regardless of the fact whether you smoke a cigarette of regular tobacco or organic cigarettes, none of the products is safe for your health. Any tobacco cigarette has carbon monoxide, tar, and heavy metals, even if it has a bunch of “organic” labels on it. Inhaling burnt tobacco is harmful, whether it is a cheap mass-produced cigarette or a roll-up made of homegrown organic tobacco.

Are Organic Cigarettes Safer?

Are organic cigarettes better? Tastes differ, and some smokers claim that organic cigarettes really taste better. There are also smokers who do not feel any difference between a regular cigarette and an organic one. However, we’re here to discuss safety, not taste.

Tobacco marketing keeps up to the times. As the cigarette products manufacturers noticed the hype around organic products, they realized people might as well buy organic cigarettes. When it comes to tobacco, the concept of organic is very misleading. Some users might think that if organic food is better, organic cigarettes are better as well.

However, there is no overlapping here. American Spirit is the only major brand marking their cigarettes as “natural”, “additive-free”, and “organic”. A Truth Initiative® study revealed that over sixty percent of smokers buying American Spirit organic cigarettes believe that these products are less harmful compared to regular Marlboro Red cigarettes.

This finding is mind-blowing as it means that the majority of loyal brand followers do not realize that they harm their health just like they did with regular cigarettes, only to let the brand flourish on overpriced products.

They required the American Spirit to remove the labels from the products because the claims they make are not approved by the agency. The company now uses only the label “natural”, which is a part of the brand name. It looks like there is not much nature to it, huh?

Truth Initiative asked FDA to take action against Santa Fe and Reynolds American, Inc. who advertised their cigarettes as safer without any facts to back up their claims. The FDA should determine whether these “organic” products that claim to be safer are illegal and misleading.

When it comes to smoking, we should all keep in mind that this harmful habit is an addiction that is hard to quit. So when someone is trying to give up smoking for health reasons, and they see an ad for, let’s say Yuma organic cigarettes, they might think that there’s no reason to quit at all. If there’s an “organic”, “additive-free” and “natural” product, why give up the habit?

You can just switch the product and enjoy a cigarette peacefully instead of smoking it with a guilty look on your face. That’s the problem with “organic” tobacco products – people think that they are better for their health and therefore ditch the idea of giving up smoking completely.

Final Thoughts

As of now, there is no evidence that “organic” and “natural” tobacco cigarettes are in any way safer or better for your health compared to regular cigarettes. Even if you come upon “100 percent additive-free” and “made of organically-grown tobacco” products, that doesn’t mean they are good for your health.

The advertising gimmick seems to work though. More and more smokers who are concerned about their health turn to “organic” tobacco products, when what they really need to think of is quitting smoking altogether. Organic products are trendy now, which makes the younger population more vulnerable to the marketing tricks of tobacco products manufacturers.

However, we recommend you to think for yourself and not to take any brand’s claim for granted, especially when your health is at stake.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
