What are Vapourizers?

Conduction is the transfer of heat when physical contact happens between 2 surfaces. It works like a pan on an oven and requires the heating element to contact the substance. It is a fast and simple process but is inefficient due to the constant physical touch between both elements. Conduction vapes do not heat the substance evenly because the conduction surface must continue to get hotter to heat the entirety of the herb.

The uneven distribution of heat causes the device to heat beyond the combustion point. It creates inconsistent heating patterns and unevenly distributes the heat. The material closest to the coil heats the most, but the substance furthest away may not even heat up. Combustion adds unhealthy smoke to your inhalation process and adds a terrible flavor.

The best conduction vaporizers use a combination of convection and conduction, but this also proves to be inefficient because the device will be unable to extract the terpenes and cannabinoids at the rate of convection vapes. Conduction vapes are inexpensive and can be easily stored and carried around anywhere. They come with rechargeable batteries, and some have temperature settings to adjust heat flow.

Convection Vaporizers 

Convection is the process by which hot air surrounds the object causing it to heat up. The hot air rises while the cold air settles down. A convection vaporizer heats all the material evenly. There is no direct contact between the heating agent and the substance.

The heating element heats the air that passes through the herbs/substance evenly, changing it into vapor. The chances of burning or combustion are almost zero because there is no direct contact between elements. A convection vapor heats the material smoothly and evenly, causing it to release clean fumes.

The substance or herb is placed into a removable chamber in the device. Once the vaporizer reaches the required temperature, the herb chamber is attached, and it heats up. The process results in the outcome of clean vapor. Convection helps to access all the necessary terpenes and cannabinoids that are present in the herbs.

The method does not waste the product and efficiently heats it to acquire all the benefits from it. The hot air that passes through the herbs heats up and boils the terpenes and compounds at the right temperature. It gives off a potent vapor.

Most convection vapes have two types of units – a whip-style and a balloon style. Some have multiple attachments that can be used either way. Convection vapes are very efficient and vaporize nearly all of the product or substance. Most of them also come with precise temperature controls to adjust the heat distribution levels. The taste and smell are friendly to the body and can be inhaled easily without any congestion.

  1. Meaning – Conduction is a process involving direct contact between elements and causes heat through physical contact. Convection involves the transfer of heat through a medium such as fluids or air.
  1. Temperature Control – Conduction gives you more control over the heat distribution as you can adjust the heat from the source. Convection offers lesser control on heat distribution. Newer models of convection vaporizers offer precise control mechanisms which give even intensity. 
  1. Maintenance – Conduction vapes are inexpensive and are easier to take care of. They require little to no maintenance. Convection vaporizers require constant care and maintenance to ensure that the device works smoothly and efficiently.
  1. Speed – It takes 5 minutes or lesser for conduction vaporizers to heat up and produce vapes. Convection vaporizers take 8-10 minutes to heat up and distribute that heat. 
  1. Heating source – Conduction allows direct heat from the energy source. While this is quicker, it increases the chance of burning the product and inhaling smoke. Convection vaporizers work without direct contact with the product and distribute the heat evenly by passing through and around it.


Vaporizers are alternative ways to consume substances that ideally produce smoke, tar, ash, and by-products harmful to the human body. The heating method of vaporizers directly affects the quality of the vapor produced and the overall experience. It is necessary to choose a device that is suitable for personal choices. Both conduction and convection vaporizers have their pros and cons.

One is cheaper and works faster, while the other burns evenly and utilizes the product optimally. By popularity alone, convection vaporizers are demanded more due to their ability to distribute heat evenly. Conduction vaporizers tend to burn off part of the product that may result in smoke. The overall experience is subjective in both cases, and both types of vaporizers are beneficial in their regard.
