It is August and the weeds are back in school. Mrs. Arose and Dr. Digg look them over as they get off the yellow school bus. The tallest and straightest weeds are picked by Mrs. Arose. Dr. Digg worries that some of the weeds will wilt and fall through the cracks. Ms. Flowerpot takes the rest of the weeds and encourages them to work up to their potential. Soon after school begins, Ms. Flowerpot looks into Mrs. Arose’s classroom. What she sees is all the weeds sitting in nice, neat rows. “No rows, No more,” she says. And Ms. Flowerpot starts talking to Mrs. Arose. Soon the two of them are planning lessons and rearranging their classrooms for each of the weeds. August Weeds begin to know, understand, and do. Learning is fun. Change can be very painful but the sharing of ideas between Ms. Flowerpot and Mrs. Arose is beautiful. A variety of teaching methods are being sown for the weeds. One essential question: Will Dr. Digg become part of the team and take his weeds out of the straight rows?
