Meet the latest Geekvape creation: Aegis X dual 18650 box mod.
It is dust- and waterproof features 2.4-inch color screen and a battery resistance of 220W. The sophisticated functionality bases on the updated AS 2.0 chipset.
By 2020 we know a lot about the Geekvape company. Their Aegis series won customer affection with the Aegis Legend, Nova, and Squonk vapes; the latter is the most popular among the squonk vapes.
The X vape of the Aegis series is a promising vaporizer, and the Geekvape Aegis X review aims to check if the vape lives up to its promise.
The Aegis X Kit Review
What you get in the package is the Aegis X mod, a USB cable, and a user manual.
The First Impressions
At first glance, Aegis X is a nicely built mod in a size that is standard for a normal 18650 dual mode. The 2.4 inch OLED color screen almost covers a side of a mod and strikes with brightness and readability. It is massive.
In size, the Aegis X is similar to the Legend mod of the Aegis series, although it is lighter. Geek vape Aegis X feels excellent to keep it in hand and surprises with a sturdy build.
Another perk catering to the overall comfort of use is the soft cloth that makes holding it in hands even more pleasant.
Build and Design
Geekvape Aegis X mod doesn’t stand out significantly from the rest of the Aegis series and is much alike Aegis Legend.
It is black and coated in rubber. The place where you touch the mod with a palm is covered with a soft cloth that feels pleasant. The front panel makes the only bright spot in the design.
Aegis X mod design is free from excessive brand advertising. It features the Geekvape logo above the screen and the Aegis inscription below the adjustment buttons.
The sliding latch cap covers the battery section. No doors to unscrew, which is excellent, but you have o make sure you close it tight. The battery door mechanism follows one of the Aegis Legend in build.
The USB mod for charging is covered with a rubber plug. The charging amperage is 2 amp, that is an excellent rating. There are two ways you can charge the batteries:
- Internally, using the pre-included USB;
- Externally, via the external charger.
It is proven that charging batteries externally saves the longevity of the device.
The standard 510 pin facilitates swapping atomizers, and a 31.5 mm width of the mod makes it perfect to use with different atomizers without overhang.
Buttons sit tight, without a rattle when vaping.
Features and Functionality
As usual, Geekvape didn’t spare time and resources to pack the new vape with a bunch of modes and functions. In this regard, it isn’t much different from other Geek vape Aegis X vapes. So, it has:
- Power mod: Soft, Normal, Powerful preheat
- Temp Control: SS, Ni200, Ti, TCR
- Watt Curve mode
- Bypass mode
So, it has all the modes a shrewd vaper would love to have. Even more: the above-mentioned preheat options are a novelty in the Geekvape functionality.
Additional perk: unlike other Aegis mods, the Geekvape Aegis X mod features five profiles, which you can set yourself to swap between different temperatures, power, and preheat settings.
For example, you may have a favorite setting for the power mod and another setup for the temperature control mode and wattage. In this case, you can set them separately and always keep at hand without messing around with settings.
That is an incredible feature if you like vaping in different modes but hate changing many settings.
Usage
The functionality is promising. Apart from the standard Geekvape menu system, Geekvape Aegis X mod features considerable improvements. That includes a Set submenu with several settings.
The options are the Auto option, a Theme setting, various UI options, Color setting, a Reset option, and an AAB option.
Here’s how to use a new Aegis X mod:
- To turn the mod on and off you have to press the fire button five times.
- To enter the menu mode, click the fire button three times.
- To select the profile, use the buttons “up” and “down,” to choose the pattern, hit the “fire” button.
- To select a mode, use the buttons “up” and “down” and press “fire” to accept
- The “up” and “down” buttons allow checking the settings in the submenu mode.
- The “fire” buttons accept the settings.
- To lock the adjustment buttons, use the “up” and “down” buttons simultaneously.
- To adjust the screen brightness, press the “fire” and “up” buttons simultaneously.
Geekvape did their best to make the vape easy to navigate and operate. The ones who already used Geekvape vapes will find the menu candy. The newbies will have to dig a little bit in the settings to acquire some necessary skills.
Aegis X features the new version of the Geekvape chip, which is AS 2.0. It wasn’t used in the previous issues of the Aegis series, like Legend and Nova. It is said to be the best in the series.
Many vapes these don’t stand up to their technical promising. Yet, it’s not the case with the X vape. The wattage limit of the two fully charged batteries is 220 watts, as they state 200 watts only.
The amperage limit is 43, which is an excellent indicator for dual 18650 mods with the average amperage of 40 amps.
The volt limit of 12 volts is sustained as well.
Note: the Geekvape Aegis X has a boost circuit, which is super since most of the mods in the class do not have.
The wattage level can be changed in 0.1-watt increments under 100 watt. Over 100 watt setting, the wattage is increased in 1-watt increments.
Temperature Control
The 200-watt limit is available at Temperature Control mode, but it doesn’t perform well at that limit. If you use a 0.1 ohm build for Power mode, it delivers excellent results at 120 watts, but it won’t work that well at Temperature Control.
The vape has super dry hit protection and thick, smooth vape each time. If used with a build under 50 watts, the vape heats up quite fast.
Aegis X Vape Benefits and Downsides
The positive sides of Geekvape Aegis X overweight the downsides.
Pros:
- Comfortable to keep with a rubber coating
- A high-quality build quality
- Affordable price
- Technical perks
- High amperage limits
- Trendy design with eight color variations
- Extensive functionality
- Easy to use
- Boost circuit
Cons:
- Unclear explanation of settings in the manual
- Wattage drawbacks in Temperature Control mode
- Battery door design downsides
Final Words
In terms of design, performance, and technical functionality Aegis X lives up to the expectation. It is one of the best exemplars of the Aegis line, and the vapers will love the improved functionality, durability, and the abundance of technical perks. It’s a great mod to cater to the tastes of the most demanding vapers.
