Rincoe is the 2018 newcomer, and now they present us with their fifth product called Mechman 228 TC Mod, the main feature of which should be temperature control as the name suggests.
Despite its name, it’s not the mechanical mod. It houses the sub ohm tank with the mesh coils. The tank capacity is just fine. With 4.5 mL of e-liquid, you won’t have to make frequent stops to refuel.
The mod is powered by two 18650 batteries and, as the producer promises, is ready to work at a capacity of 228W.

In the package you receive the mod itself, mesh tank, and an additional glass tube, charger, warranties, and manual, but what is a set of coils: a single mesh coil of 0.25 ohms and a dual mesh coil of 0.2 ohms.
Design
Anyone who looked at this piece at least once would say: “That’s how the truly masculine thing should look.” Yet, it is designed for all. The color scheme is reserved, no bright yellow or rainbow, but it only speaks of the sense of style of its owner.
The leather panels feel pleasant to touch. The whole thing sits well in hand, and the big-sized bright screen is easy to look at. The slightly protruding rectangular fire button is where you can intuitively find it.

Battery
The mod operates on two 18650 batteries that can be charged both internally and externally. The battery lid has a magnet, which makes it easy to open and close it with a simple move of a finger.
Functionality
The mod operates in three basic modes, which are the power mode, the bypass mode, and the temperature control mode. It doesn’t have a vast range of extra-features like sub-menus, but its users find it quite handy with the necessary power and temperature modes.
Bases on its specific features, we dare to say that this piece is not designed for an abundant number of additional functions, and when buying it, the users should know what they are going for.
The functionality is quite simple. 5 clicks on the fire button suffice to turn the device on and off. 3 clicks unlock the menu, and the up and down buttons will help you make a choice between the preferred functions.

Performance
The stated specs on voltage and amperage were a bit overrated. If the maximum wattage specified on the website is 228 watts, when testing it in the power mode the output was 160 watts.
The amperage was 35 amps instead of 50 amps. The temperature control mode was showing its best at 100 watts. The testing showed that smaller builds work better.
Tank
The tank has a capacity of 4.5 mL and features a standard 810 resin drip tip, so it’s compatible with 810 drip tips with O-rings only. The sliding top-fill comes in handy, as well as the smooth control ring, which is easy to adjust.
It comes with two coil options that are 0.25-ohm and 0.2 ohm. The cloud production is decent, but the 0.25-ohm coil works best at 65 watts, not at 40-50 it is designed for.
Pros & Cons
The things we’ve liked about the Mechman 228w Mesh mod were the following:

The things we’ve disliked included:
- Temperature control mode could be better programmed
- The wattage limit was overstated
- Some distorted flavor when used with the mesh tank
- The mod is not mechanical despite its name
Summing up…
The vape mod strikes with its simplicity and affordable price and can be a great alternative for more expensive counterparts with similar features.
Although it works best at 150 watts instead of 228 promised it is still capable of producing decent vapor and flavor quality. We’d recommend this vape mod to everyone looking for a balance of price and quality.
