To answer these questions, one must understand the underlying concept behind these products. The never-ending “are herbal cigarettes safe?” concern is understandable and we see why many people often ask this question.

But what people fail to realize is the fact that they are called herbal cigs for a reason. Unlike traditional tobacco packs, herbal cigarettes are considered safe.

For centuries, people rolled different things and tried to smoke them. Not a lot of options passed the experimentation phase. But a few non-tobacco substances managed to catch-up and oddly enough, created a booming business. Herbal mixtures dried tendu leaves, and other ingredients spawned a new industry.

Alternative cigarettes, or herbal cigarettes, are easy to find these days. They look exotic, have colorful packs and come with different flavors, including vanilla, cherry, chocolate, etc. They are a tad more expensive, but what really sells these products is the idea behind them. Healing properties is what makes them wanted among smokers.

So what are herbal cigarettes? Are herbal cigarettes healthy? I’m afraid no. They come in different additives and have all kinds of effects on one’s health.

As Matthew Gold, a staff attorney for the FTC, says “Any kind of cigarette you smoke has tar and carbon monoxide, which have very real health hazards associated with them.” With this in mind, it’s safe to assume that there are no safe cigarettes.

Best herbal cigarettes

To kick-off the list, we decided to talk about the oh-so-popular herbal cigarettes. There is a plethora of different herbal cigarettes brands. You won’t hear questions like “where to buy herbal cigarettes near me” among smokers because they are available practically everywhere.

Although, they look like the real thing and have a pretty good array of flavors. People think they are better since they lack nicotine. They can be sold legally even to children and they are a mainstay in health-food stores. They are pretty much safe – until you set them ablaze. According to a report by the FTC, herbal cigs produce many, if not all toxins that are generally found in traditional cigarettes.

Bidis

Moving on next, we have the bidis. Resembling a marijuana joint, bidis are small, hand-rolled in dried tendu leaf cigarettes that contain dark tobacco. They come in different flavors and are generally less expensive than traditional cigarettes. With candy-like flavors and low cost, it’s hard not to see whom they are trying to attract.

In 1999, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention revealed that 40 percent of the Boston population tried bidis and 16 percent smoked them on a regular basis. Scientist found that Bidis are far more dangerous than tobacco cigarettes. Due to their handmade nature, smokers inhale 2 to 3 times more tar and nicotine.

To make things worse, bidi smokers have to inhale deeply to keep the thing lit. This forces cancer-creating toxins to lay deep in the lungs, increasing the risk further. Around 67% of bidi cigs are sold without a health warning and children are often confused by this.

The American Lung Association’s former director of tobacco control for the central California coast, Jennifer Williams says that high school students are generally shocked when they find out how bidis are produced. As stated by Jennifer, “In fact, kids their own age are often indentured servants, spending the entire day rolling hundreds of these cigarettes for little or no money.

This has a big effect on the kids. They’re upset that kids are abused in order to produce this product.” Last but not least, Jennifer indicated that these tobacco products, more often than not, are stored in rat-infested warehouses.

Clove cigarettes

Containing about 60 percent of tobacco and 40 percent of ground cloves, these cigarettes are far from healthy. Nicknamed as kreteks, these cigs were all the rage during the baby boom phenomena. However, in spite of their popularity, they are extremely damaging.

According to the American Lung Association, these pseudo-healthy cigarettes deliver twice the amount of nicotine and carbon monoxide than traditional ones.

By switching tobacco for cloves, the cigarette only masks its dangerous ability. When flamed, cloves produce the amounts of chemicals that far exceed the dangers that are found in bidis. Inhaling burnt clove oil might result in pneumonia, bronchitis, and even coma.

So, Where to buy herbal cigarettes? The safe ones!

If you are asking where can I buy herbal cigarettes locally and feel safe at the same time, you must understand that no retailer will promise you a safe experience.

Be it a luxury shop, or some random guy on the subway, you won’t be safe. Alternative cigarettes aren’t safe and never were. To feel completely safe, quit smoking as there are other, far more enjoyable things to do in this world.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
