If you roll a couple of years back, we сould never predict that vape pens are going to be the next logical step for cig-a-likes. Used primarily for vaping CBD and THC carts, they offer not only great performance but the convenience of taking the pen anywhere you like.

They are great additions to the vaping community, hence why we decided that it’s time we dedicate an entire article on how to use a vape pen

After all, we believe that it’s our duty to teach the new generation vapers on how to use a vape pen, as well as how you should take care of them. We’ll also take a brief look at how to use a dab pen, and finally cover how do vape pens work. Let’s get started!

Vape Pen In A Nutshell

Before we can outline any vape pen instructions, one must fully understand what a vape pen is all about. So, long story short, a vape pen is a device that is used to vaporize all kinds of substances.

The unit has a power source (typically a rechargeable battery), a vape tank (where all your substance goes), and a draw button. Vape pens, as the name implies, are usually small and of cylindrical shape.

The performance of these devices is nothing to scoff about (especially considering the dimensions) as they are capable of vaping e-liquids, dabs/waxes, dry herbs, and CBD/THC.

Charging A Vape Pen

Now that you know what a vape pen is, let’s take a look at how you can charge it correctly. After all, these small devices have a fitting battery and changing one is pretty much impossible.

Knowing how to properly charge them will ensure a longer life span. So, first thing first, if you got yourself a vape pen, you probably got a charger with it.

Rule of thumb, use the one that came in the box. Secondly, if you didn’t get a charger in the box, check the specifications of the system to determine what will work. Thirdly and lastly, if your pen uses a 510 thread, then look for reputable brands so that you don’t end up using a cheap clone.

How to Use a Vape Pen

Many people go and buy themselves a vape pen but tend to shy away from questions such as “how do you use one of these?”. If you are one of those people, here’s how to use a vape pen for the first time.

So, the first thing you want to do is check if your unit is fully charged. If so, look for a button on the main body. After you’ve located it, press it five times in rapid succession to power it on.

Once it’s working, wait a minute or two and press the same power button when you are about to inhale. You might also end up having a pen that is draw activated, if so, your unit probably doesn’t have any buttons.

Some pens might have LED lights and multiple buttons, so we suggest that you read through the manual. Every manufacturer does things differently so saying that the LED light indicates the voltage would be incorrect as it might be the level of battery left.

Now that you know how to use push button vape pens, we’d like to stress the fact that there are different types of said pens.

Yes, all of them are push-button ones but the contents might vary. Typically, there are four types of pens, namely for oil carts, for e-liquids, for concentrates, and for dry herbs.

Something to keep in mind. Also, before we close off this section, we always start vaping at the lowest settings and gradually increase them to find the sweet spot.

Maintaining A Vape Pen

To get the most out of your pen, you need to take good care of it. It’s like a car. The more time you put into it, the more reliable it will become. If you follow these five small tips, your pen can last for years.

  1. Keep the mouthpiece part as clean as possible.
  2. Make sure the system is never drained completely.
  3. Keep the system our of extreme cold and hot temperatures.
  4. Never overload the system with wax.
  5. It’s recommended that you clean the threads with isopropyl alcohol.

Are Vape Pens Safe?

Now that you know how to use a dab pen, how to maintain it, it’s time to discuss the hot topic of safety. So, most (if not all) pens have a built-in battery that is prone to explode.

While most pens have protective mechanisms such as cut-off limit and short-circuit prevention, bad things can still happen. But the same can be said about any device that uses a lithium-ion battery.

To prevent all unwanted outcomes, we suggest that you read a couple of guides on good battery practices. That way you will not only ensure safety but will prolong the life of the system itself. Also, make the most out of the previous section.

But that’s all for now. Be sure to let us know if we missed something in the comments down below. And we’ll see next time!
